I only wish they still had girl baseball teams. I was really good when I was little but wasn’t interested in softball and too shy to be on the boys’ team.

Dorothy “Dottie” Schroeder (1928-1996) was the youngest founding member of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League at the age fifteen. After playing 12 seasons for the AAGPBL, she spent four years touring North America with an 11 woman team. Her fifteen seasons of professional baseball remain a record for a female player.
And no, she’s not played by Geena Davis in A League of Their Own. Geena Davis plays a composite character named Dottie Hinson.
